How To Work With Brix-Berg

Brix-Berg has worked in a variety of ways to accomplish the objectives of developing and commercializing separation process using the Brix-Berg technology.

          The following are examples of the major ways to co-operate:  

1.    RESEARCH

Simulation Research & Development Contract  

 

Purpose: Simulate with pure compounds a client feedstock. Test in the lab with past successful agents for separations.  
Reason: Fast, inexpensive, reproducible way to apply patented technology to similar new feedstocks.  
Time:  One month from start to finish.
Cost:  $5,000-15,000

2.   RESEARCH

Original Feedstock Research & Development Contract  

Purpose: Conduct research with client actual feedstock.  Test in the lab with past successful agents for separations, or develop entirely new agent protocol.    
Reason: Determines impact of trace or minor constituents.   Develops new process.   Establishes and documents new inventions.  
Time:  Three to twelve months from start to finish.  
Cost:  $15,000-150,000

3.      RESEARCH

Joint Co-Funded Research & Development  

 

Purpose: Same as 1.0 or 2.0 except Brix-Berg funds development work 50:50.  
Reason: Brix-Berg and client/partner firm commercialize the entire process. Establishes and documents new inventions.  
Time:  Three to twelve months from start to finish.  
Cost:  $10,000-100,000

4.0 DEVELOPMENT

Pilot Plant Operation-Test Marketing  

 

Purpose: Design and build a pilot plant or use Brix-Berg pilot plant facilities in Iceland.   SEE ICELANDIC SEPARATIONS. 
Reason: Develop scale-up data and sell products into test markets and new product development programs.
Time:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.  
Cost:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.

5.     BUSINESS

Joint Venture  

 

Purpose: Combine talents of Brix-Berg and partner firm for specific business purposes.  
Reason: Faster more powerful entry to a market or opportunity.
Time:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.
Cost:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.

6.   BUSINESS 

Engineering Design

 

Purpose: Complete preliminary engineering design, process flow diagrams and instrumentation, cost estimation and/or modular construction.  
Reason: Completely integrated approach from R&D to design, construction, and start-up. Work with leading distillation internal suppliers.  
Time:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.  
Cost:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.

7.    BUSINESS

Lease Finance-Buyback  

 

Purpose: Organize project financing on a lease buy-back arrangement. $20 million maximum.  
Reason: Assists client partner in achieving rapid commercialization with the option to purchase the fixed assets at a later date.  Off balance sheet financing.   
Time:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.  
Cost:  Must Be Estimated Case By Case.

8.    BUSINESS 

Process License  

 

Purpose: Exclusively or non-exclusively license past or newly developed patents and/or processes.  
Reason: For partner/client intellectual property portfolios.  
Time:  One to three months. 
Cost:  $5,000-15,000 Combination of advance payments, patent application cost reimbursements, fixed or running royalties or one time payments.  Must Be Negotiated Case By Case.

9.     BUSINESS  

Intellectual Property Management  

 

Purpose: Manage partner/client patent portfolio to monitor maintenance and international costs.   Works with patent counsel.  
Reason: Take advantage of Brix-Berg expertise with over 300 patents. 
Time:  Multi-year contracts. 
Cost:  Must Be Negotiated Case By Case.
